Furniture For Life, founded in 2006 and headquartered in Boulder, Colorado, is a prominent designer, distributor, and retailer specializing in high-quality massage chairs and wellness furniture. They wanted to partner with MEDIUM Labs to showcase the features of their various luxury massage chairs in different homes, each with a distinct style.
THE APPROACH
FFL partnered with MEDIUM Films to create videos and photos of each chair in our studio and on location, creating custom sets for each chair, casting different customers enjoying the benefits of the chairs, and highlighting each chair’s design and specific features. Most people only see massage chairs in malls or other public spaces. As we discovered, the FFL massage chairs are far superior to those chairs in every way. They are gentle, soothing, and each chair has a different set of features that deliver a very different personal experience with each chair.
THE CHALLENGES
Building unique sets with different furniture takes some time, but we found a great relationship with the FFL Creative Director, who established a look-and-feel for each set. She helped us pick wallpaper, lights, rugs, artwork, and other small details that would be in our set design. Some of the challenges were showing how the features work very simply without explanation so potential customers could easily understand.
THE PRODUCTION
In our studio, we created custom living rooms in our studio for each chair to complement each chair’s features, and used creative camera movement to focus on each unique feature. Building each set, sourcing specific furniture, and casting key ‘customers’, we were able to smoothly and reliably shoot each spot within just a few weeks. We edited the videos with soothing music, crafted custom tracked motion graphics to highlight the features, and produced multiple versions for different markets.
THE RESULT
Driving sales with high quality work
The videos and photos were a remarkable success. FFL’s massage chairs sales skyrocketed, and FFL has now expanded it’s retail store reach with multiple locations across the United States, includingBoulder, CO, Las Vegas, NV, Los Angeles, CA, Fort Lee, NJ, and Castle Rock, CO.
